Post-heritage and digital

The Centro Stile faced a totally new challenge with DesertX, seizing the opportunity to experiment with a new design language and seeking inspiration from the world of African rally raids.

The result is a sturdy, clean, modern design, based on shapes from the off-road world. A bike that wants to be robust, solid, and functional at the same time.

CONCEPT

The DesertX aesthetic manages to combine a "Dakarian" flavour with a sense of the touch interface. Both post-heritage and digital.

FLYLINE
The bike is visually composed of three macro elements: a single central volume, the seat, and the windshield, which incorporates the double headlight. A robust design that blends form and function.
ERGONOMICS
The surfaces in contact with the rider are expansive and well connected, allowing unhindered movement in different directions, particularly during off-road riding.

      Developed to take on the most challenging off-road trails

      We worked by drawing on the very best of our ergonomics, engine, aerodynamics, and electronics know-how and developed a new chassis that is off-road specific. DesertX is a 'sport tool', functional, competent, technologically advanced, and as efficient as every Ducati.

      Kayaba suspension

      The Ducati DesertX is equipped with first-class components to ensure the best setup and real reliability off-road. The Kayaba long stroke suspension is adjustable, for comfort in every situation.

      Electronic equipment

      6 riding modes, a 5” colour TFT display, and full LED lights. Like all Ducatis, DesertX flaunts advanced electronic equipment to ensure safety and performance in all conditions.

      21"/18" wheel combination

      DesertX is equipped with spoked wheels, 21-inch at the front and 18'-inch at the rear, as per enduro tradition. Ready to tackle any type of obstacle and asphalt with ease.

      Generous 250 mm ground clearance

      Fundamental when off the beaten track, DesertX offers ground clearance of 250 mm, which really comes into its own during more extreme off-road riding.

      Wide selection of tyres

      The DesertX is equipped with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tubeless tyres that combine greater reliability and safety in case of puncture with easier repair. Thanks to the different homologations obtained, a wide selection of alternative tyres is also available.

      All the essentials for off-road use

      Spoked wheels, 21” at the front and 18” at the rear, generous ground clearance, and various types of tyre thanks to the different homologations obtained, including those dedicated to off-roading.

      SAFETY
      An anti-lock braking system is a safety system that prevents a vehicle’s wheels from locking during heavy braking. Essentially, the ABS regulates the braking pressure on the wheel, allowing it to continuously have traction on the riding surface. There are different ABS intervention levels, depending on the selected Riding Mode.
      COMFORT
      Electronic system introduced by Ducati for the first time in 2014 on the Multistrada 1200 that allows you to automatically maintain the speed set by the rider without twisting the throttle.
      SAFETY
      In the event of sudden braking, automatically activates the flashing of the rear light to alert the following vehicles, a solution that further improves rider’s safety.
      COMFORT

      The bike is ready for this infotainment system for connecting the smartphone to the bike via Bluetooth, which allows the rider to manage the main multimedia functions of the mobile phone.

      PERFORMANCE

      Electronic system derived from racing that allows you to change gears without using the clutch and without closing the throttle when shifting to a higher gear.

            A collection inspired by the desert

            The bike has such a strong identity that, for the first time, we decided to design a dedicated apparel line in-house at the Ducati Centro Stile. We named it 21/18.

            As stylishly robust as the bike

            DESERTX

            The rugged style of the bike is transferred to the clothing. We went from the three-dimensional proportions of the motorcycle to two-dimensional fabric, which meant going from the juxtaposition of wide and narrow curves on the bike to the clean cuts and soft lines of the clothing.

            A jacket, trouser and helmet combo that is outside of time and trends

            The capsule collection comprises jacket, trousers, and helmet. White helps to reflect sunlight and has an important historical value in that it was the colour worn by rally riders in the 90s.

            Style and functionality

            The jacket sleeves are detachable for greater freedom of movement during off-road riding. The front pockets are large and inspired by the travel packs used in the enduro world, while the back pocket is asymmetrical for easier opening.

            DesertX already boasts significant equipment as standard but can be further enhanced with a wide range of accessories dedicated to off-road or touring use.

            8-litre tank

            For the first time on a Ducati, we also have an 8-litre rear tank in the catalogue. This truly functional and evocative accessory increases the bike's range by over 150 kilometres.

            When the front tank reaches a sufficiently low fuel level, the rider receives notification via the dashboard to transfer fuel from the rear to the front tank. This can be easily activated via the handlebar controls.
